Two formulations are recommended for treatment of Tinea Versicolor, one contains Selenium Sulfide and the other contains Pyrithione Zinc. I have read sites that say that the Selenium Sulfide one works best but I did not find that to be true personally. In my own personal experience with Tinea Versicolor on my chest, back, and arms, the Pyrithione Zinc got rid of it within just a few short applications. I had tried the Selenium Sulfide previously and it didn’t get rid of it after several applications.
Putting cold, sticky shampoo on your skin feels pretty gross. So spare yourself a lot of time and discomfort and buy the faster working Selsun Blue formula.
